It is with the deepest regret and a heavy heart we must inform you of the death of our dear Brother Simeon Mayou who died on Saturday 28th December 2024 at the grand age of 100 yrs. (fondly known as “Simmy”).
May we all convey our sincere condolences, our thoughts and prayers now to Simmy’s family and friends, Simmy served in the Royal Navy (a WW2 hero) who saw active service in WW2, including France during operation “Overlord” “D” Day 6th June 1944, including; Royal Navy Patrol Service, LT/JX 436350, A/B. Radar, Protect/escort USA troops Utah beach area “D” day 6/6/1944 for which Simmy received France’s highest award; the Legion d’honneur.
Simmy was a very active member of many organisations and associations, including the Normandy Veterans Association (later Alliance) Market Garden Veterans Association, (later Commemorative) Royal Navy Patrol Service Association, Lowestoft, Royal British Legion, Aldridge branch, plus many more groups, clubs and associations, Simmy took part in all the various trips to Normandy and Holland plus other activities, Simmy was very popular wherever he went and in whatever company he was in, no doubt we will learn more about him in the coming days,
Simmy was a very active, genuine, gifted, and caring colleague. He was a most loyal and genuine friend, certainly a gentleman and very popular,
May I as chairman, offer our condolences on behalf of the 1944 Alliance Normandy-Market Garden to all the many associations, standard bearers and all members, we offer the prayer below for all family and friends.
“Heavenly Father, you are closer to us than we are to ourselves and know the secrets of our hearts. Look with compassion on all who find it difficult at this moment. We give thanks to you for the life you have given to our friend, Simeon, We thank you for the talents he had and used for your service, and we thank you for the influence of his life, take the words of your servant and the expressions of love of friends to comfort Simmy’s family members and strengthen them for the days ahead, relieve them of their hurt and pain, enable them to live with their feelings, knowing that we all are gathered together in love, whether in this world or the next, and accepted through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Dear Simmy, our dear friend, may you now Rest in Eternal Peace, in the care and protection of our dear Lord, Jesus Christ. Rest in Peace, Amen.
