Veteran Franklin Hood, BEM. Royal Corps of Signals

10/08/1936 – 25/12/2022

It is with the deepest regret and a heavy heart I must inform you of the death of our dear Brother Franklin (Frank) Hood who died suddenly but peacefully at home at approx.18:15 hrs on 25/12/ 2022 at the age of 86 yrs. After a long illness.

May we all convey our sincere condolences, our thoughts and prayers now to Frank’s family and friends, especially Frank’s long time partner Sheila Howell, Frank served his National Service in the Royal Signals alongside his twin brother Edward (Ted) serving in Korea together, Frank was a very active member of many organisations and associations, holding many offices including the  

National Service Veterans Association, (Chairman), British Korean Veterans Association, (Birmingham branch), Post office staff association, (GPO Postal service), Federation of Birmingham Ex- Service Associations, Royal Warwickshire Regiment Association, Birmingham branch, plus many more groups, clubs and associations, these are only a few things I know about Frank, no doubt we will learn more about him in the coming days,

Frank was a very active, genuine, gifted, and caring colleague. He was a most loyal and genuine friend, certainly a gentleman and very popular,

May I as Secretary, offer our condolences on behalf of the National Service Veterans Association, to all the many associations, all members, we offer the prayer below for all family and friends.

“Heavenly Father, you are closer to us than we are to ourselves and know the secrets of our hearts. Look with compassion on all who find it difficult at this moment. We give thanks to you for the life you have given to our friend, Frank, We thank you for the talents he had and used for your service, and we thank you for the influence of his life, take the words of your servant and the expressions of love of friends to comfort Frank’s family members and strengthen them for the days ahead, relieve them of their hurt and pain, enable them to live with their feelings, knowing that we all are gathered together in love, whether in this world or the next, and accepted through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Dear Frank, our dear friend may you now Rest in Eternal Peace, in the care and protection of our dear Lord, Jesus Christ.                                                                    Rest in Peace, Amen.
